The need to socialise

Why is it that we have this need to socialise? Every human being needs to have contact with others. Even those of us that are more than capable of enjoying a moment or two all alone.

If we don't see other people for awhile, we become restless and cranky. We have to have someone to talk to, to see, to communicate with. Phone calls and internet may help for some time, but after awhile we have to physically meet someone.

At times we may even find ourselves to be somewhat picky. It's not enough with a person, it has to be a friend, or at least someone we can communicate with at that exact level. Funny, ain't it?

So why this need to be around others? And why, at the same time, this need to be alone? We need to be in balance. Somewhere in between these two. It's not that easy. Especially during the summer holiday. Either you are traveling, or your friends are, and people come and go, and it doesn't necessarily add up.

I've had my time alone, and now I'm more than ready to see some friendly faces. That's the one thing I like about the end of summer, and the beginning of school...
